What Should I bring to registration? A photocopy of the your child's birth
certificate or birth record. This will be placed on file with
the Madison recreation department. A check or cash for the
uniform and registration amount. Your child or his/her's waist
and chest sizes in inches. You will need this to select uniform
sizes. A willingness to volunteer. Who can play baseball in the MBA? Any boy or girl playing age 5-15 who lives in
Madison or lives in an area that does not have a Dixie Youth
Baseball league. Playing age is determined by how old a child
will be as of April 31. My child is small, can he play with younger
kids? No. The leagues are divided up into five
leagues. T-ball for five year olds, Prep for six year olds,
Rookie for 7-8's, Minors for 9-10's, Majors for 11-12's and Babe
Ruth for 13-15's.
For safety and insurance reasons children are not allowed to
play in an age bracket younger than there playing age. What equipment does my child need? A glove and shoes. Uniform is provided as
part of registration. What kind of bat can my child use? Any bat that is stamped as approved for play
in Dixie Youth Baseball. Can he/she use a bat that is not stamped
with Dixie Youth Baseball? No. How many practices/games per week? Generally, there will be 2 games a week for
all ages. Coaches may schedule more practices during the week.
There will be occasions for the players in the ages seven and up
where three games in a week may have to be played. When are games and practices? Generally, every Saturday week day evening
starting at 5:30 pm except Wednesday. Wednesday and Sunday are
used to make up rained-out games. With typical North Alabama
Weather every team usually will end up with at least one
Wednesday/Sunday game during the year. What is the Madison Baseball Association or
MBA? A non-profit volunteer organization the
administers the youth recreation baseball (ages 5-15) in the
city of Madison. Every player and parents are members of the
MBA. What role does the City of Madison
Recreation Department perform? The Recreation department maintains the fields
and facilities. The recreation department prepares the fields
