2010 Fall Registration

 

Fall ball registration is now open and online. Registration will run through August 6th. We are only accepting online registration with credit card payment for fall. The cost of fall ball is $25 and includes a hat and shirt.

We will run leagues for the following age groups.  (Ages based on age as of April 30, 2011)

Prep (5&6) - Rookie (7&8)* - Minor (9&10) - Major (11&12) - (No TBall or Senior)

 

*Note we will be trial running coach pitch in the rookie league.  This will give us some practical experience with it as we consider whether that is the best option for us or not in the spring.

 
Tentative Schedule - All efforts will be made to avoid Labor Day and Fall Break
August 6th - 15th - Fall Teams Formed
August 16th - Practice Starts
August 30th - Season Starts
October 16th - Season Ends
We will be playing our games, mostly during the week and on some weekends, at the back fields (AKA Westco) where softball is normally played .  2 games per week is the current plan.

Madison Baseball Association – All Star Summary

 

The MBA sent 8 teams to Homewood (Birmingham) for the USSSA rec state all star tournament June 26 and 27.  The 10U team brought home the state title.  The 11U team and one of the 8U teams got runner up.

 

10U All Stars -- STATE CHAMPS  4 wins, 0 losses

Mathew Myers,P & C,  7 innings pitched, 2 hits

George Muirhead, 3B,  1HR, 3 hits

Canon Clark, P & 1B,   innings pitched, 1 HR, 5 hits

Dylan Kridner, SS & P,  1 inning pitched, 3 hits

The state champion 10U team played 4 great games over the course of the weekend.  On Saturday they beat Shades Mountain All Stars 10-2, George Muirhead hit a home run in the 1st inning to get things started strong for Madison.  In the second game on Saturday Canon Clark hit a home run in the 1st inning to help them beat Helena 15-7.  Dylan Kridner turned a double play on a line drive into the hole at SS in final inning of the Helena game, this was the best defensive play of the tournament.  On Sunday they beat Shades Mountain 11-3 in the semi finals, Canon Clark pitched all 5 innings of this game.  The final was against SMP National all stars, Mathew Myers pitched all 6 innings of the final game.  Madison played a great defensive game and held on to win 4-2.  Madison outscored their opponents 40-14 over the four game stretch.  Madison only gave up 5 runs total in two games on Sunday.

The Madison 7U All-Stars(Team #1) went 2-0 during Saturday's pool play.  The early game on Saturday was decided by a bottom of the 6th, 6 run rally with Madison beating the Southern All-Stars from Gadsden 20-19.  Madison played a 6 year old all-star team from Clanton in the second game and won 12-1 as the mercy rule was applied after the 4th inning. Seeded #2 for single elimination bracket play on Sunday, Madison faced the Alabaster All-Stars.  Our bats were silent and Madison exited the tournament early with a 17-9 loss.

The 9U had a shutout against Hazel Green and a 2 other close games. We had a chance to play in the championship game going into the last inning with a 14-8 lead only to give  up 7 runs with 2 outs to lose by 1 run against the eventual champs. We dramatically improved after our first game only scoring 1 run, we scored a combined 39 runs over the next 3 games. So we were right there with a chance to play in the championship game.
